Privacy policy

Last updated: October 8, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how 1000975503 Ontario Inc, operating as Fred Astaire Dance Studios Richmond Hill ("we", "us"), collects, uses and protects personal information through fredastairerichmondhill.ca and when you contact or visit our studio. We follow the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL).

Information we collect

  • Contact and enquiry forms: your name, email address, phone number, your message, and whether you agreed to receive emails and text messages from us.
  • Purchases (for example the Introductory Offer): your name, email, phone number, billing address and order details. Card payments are processed by Shopify Payments. We do not see or store your full card number.
  • Career and franchise enquiries: the information you choose to send us, such as your name, contact details, experience and message.
  • Website use: our website runs on Shopify, which uses cookies and similar technologies to keep the site working (for example your cart), to keep it secure and to measure visits. Some pages show embedded YouTube videos, which YouTube may use to set its own cookies.

How we use it

  • To answer your enquiry, book your lessons and provide our services.
  • To process payments, issue receipts and meet our tax and accounting obligations.
  • To send you news and offers by email and text message, only if you agreed. Every email includes a way to unsubscribe, and you can reply STOP to any text message. We stop within 10 business days of your request.
  • To review career and franchise enquiries.
  • To keep our website secure and improve it.

We do not sell your personal information.

Who we share it with

We share information only with service providers that help us run the studio and the website, and only what they need:

  • Shopify (website, checkout, payments, order emails).
  • HubSpot (our email marketing system).
  • Web3Forms (delivers our careers and franchise forms by email).
  • Our studio booking system, used at the studio to schedule your lessons.

Some of these providers store or process information outside Canada, including in the United States, where it may be accessible to authorities under local law. We may also disclose information where the law requires it.

How long we keep it

  • If you agreed to receive our emails or text messages, we keep your contact details for as long as you stay subscribed. If you unsubscribe, we keep only what we need to make sure you don't receive further messages.
  • Enquiries without marketing consent: 2 years after our last contact with you.
  • Purchase records: as long as tax law requires (generally six years).

After that we delete or anonymize the information.

How we protect it

We use reasonable safeguards: access to student information is limited to studio staff who need it, and our website and payment providers use encryption. If a breach creates a real risk of significant harm, we will notify you and the Privacy Commissioner of Canada as the law requires.

Your rights

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or withdraw your consent to marketing at any time. Contact our privacy officer: Lisa MacLaggan, lisa@fredastairecanada.ca, 13311 Yonge St #111, Richmond Hill, ON L4E 3L6. We respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (priv.gc.ca).
